alex's life book

  • In early 2006, I began creating a life book for my daughter, Alex. Click here for links to articles describing my experience.
  • And for those of you who are more digitally inclined, in late 2006, I recreated key pages of Alex's lifebook for an article I wrote for AlphaMom, using Scrapblog.

You can see the final digital result (and leave comments, if you'd like!) here.

Hey Butterfly Fairy!! Alex looks so sweet! That costume is absolutely beautiful.....and well, those buttefly Robeez are TO DIE FOR!!!

Appalling, just appalling.

eeek! good thing my child already went to bed! :-)

karen, what an adorable costume. the colors are perfect, the fabric is shimmery sweet-looking and most important of all, alex seems to know something special is going on. good job, mom!

i also like that you made a costume for her in which she can be comfortable and run about. when i was little, if your mom wasn't a seamstress--never saw my mom pick up a needle except to remove a splinter from my finger--your option was what the drugstore served up. not good. i guess i'll never forget wearing those plastic masks, my face all sweaty, managing a muffled trick-or-treat as we prowled about for candy. seemed like there was always some tag or piece of material sticking in my skin. i guess i didn't care so much because i was having such a good time but come on: halloween was painful.

couldn't resist: dd is going to be a princess AGAIN this year. well, a princess in high tops at any rate. hey, next year she'll be telling me what she wants to be, right? but i thought, why not mix it up and at least make her a *fairy* princess. so i dropped by old navy because i'd spied several sets of wings there back in early october.

but they were all gone.

now i see who took them, and painted them. thanks, alex.

:-)

p.s. what's that in her hand in the top picture?

She is really just too cute. I don't know how you don't just eat her up!

I was a butterfly too... but nowhere near as beautiful and exotic as Alex. But I did have a smashing time dancing til the wee hours of the night... wings and all. Happy Halloween!

Brat --

That thing in her hand in the top picture would be a grape. Because, clearly, the costume was incomplete without it.

Also, I'd like to clear something up: no WAY did I MAKE this costume -- are you kidding me? I'm useless at that! This was courtesy of "The Children's Place," in Houston, Texas -- one of my favourite not-expensive kid's stores.

Well, and the shoes were Robeez. I couldn't resist.

K.

Oh my lord. This time when I ate her, I got an antenna stuck in my teeth.

What a cutie pie she is!

She looks absolutely adorable! Happy Halloween

Sighhh...I'm so in love.

If only butterflies were as beautiful!

I am sorry she is just to beautiful to be a killer butterfly! Didn't try this last year making the cutest bunny rabbit something out of the Mighty Pythons or something! LOL! Cant't fight the cuteness!

She's the cutest butterfly I've ever seen!

What an absolutely adorable child and costume! Wonderful pictures!

Happy Halloween ... (here via Divine Calm)

She's more like a colorful angel than a butterfly! What a beauty!

She is just too damn cute for words! How precious!

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

OMG!!! She is DELICIOUS!!!!

Happy Halloween!!

Tanya who is missing Maraval today!

Wow. She is gorgeous here, and so is her costume!

Grapes are a part of every butterflies recommended daily intake ... glad to see that Alex is up on her Butterfly Husbandry.

Her costume is adorable. We're into Halloween Gruesome around here -- my eldest is going to be a mummy, and my daughter is going to be a werewolf. The baby wants to be an unholy mixture of "little Buzz Lightyear" and Mr. Incredible.

Gorgeous as always! Did you make that costume?

Oh, that is just gorgeous! She looks adorable!

OK OK...I CAME BACK FOR ANOTHER LOOK...BEAUTIFUL.......

Most beautiful butterfly ever. And the shoes definitely complete the look. She is toooo cute!
