alex's life book

  • In early 2006, I began creating a life book for my daughter, Alex. Click here for links to articles describing my experience.
  • And for those of you who are more digitally inclined, in late 2006, I recreated key pages of Alex's lifebook for an article I wrote for AlphaMom, using Scrapblog.

You can see the final digital result (and leave comments, if you'd like!) here.

STEVIE WONDER!!

This weekend we’re in Tobago, showing Diana and Matt the sights. We’ve been busy swimming, snorkeling, and tomorrow I’m even going to get a dive in. I’ll be sure to share the photographs this week.

As coincidence would have it, this weekend is also the second annual Tobago Jazz Festival. To be honest, we booked our weekend in Tobago before we realized it was Jazzfest weekend, so we have no plans to go to the concerts. Maybe next year.

Anyway, as you might imagine, there are many celebrities that are on the island for the event – Sting, Vanessa Williams, Natalie Cole and Pattie Labelle are all scheduled to perform. It’s too bad we’re not going to make it – but really, what’s the big deal? I mean, sure they’re talented artists, but when you get right down to it, they’re all really just people, right?

That said, I needed to interrupt my little weekend hiatus to calmly and coolly announce:

OH MY GOD YOU WON’T BELIEVE WHO WE SAW AT OUR HOTEL THIS AFTERNOON STEVIE WONDER!!!

Ha ha ha thats really funny. I wish i could have gone too but i have exams.....did you take them to see the buccoo reef too? have lots of fun in the sun :o)

So funny! Before I scrolled down, I thought, "wow, that ________ (relative) of Karen and Marcus' looks startlingly like Stevie Wonder.." Fast on the uptake, I am.

Holy crap! What a great shot! Lucky!!!

WOOOOOOOOW What an honor!! I guess he didn't have any "free VIP passes" to his concert in his back pocket then! HAHA

LOL...Funny, that's exactly how I felt when Barry White stepped into the elevator of a hotel in Anaheim we were touring. Ages ago, I used to work for a travel agency and they had these 3 day trips for the non-travel agent people to bid on. The one I put my name in for--and shouted with glee when I was chosen--was Anaheim. Got to spend a few hrs at Universal Studios. Very fun. Got to meet Barry White. Swooned.

thank goodness for zoom lenses huh! :)

Wow.
*There's* a hotel to go to regularly! (With your camera).

I would have fainted, straight away!

Did you ask to take the picture or was it easy to do? Don't brush elbows with the R and F too often...

Nina --

I didn't ask -- I was actually a fair bit away, on a balcony....

....I was about to say he didn't see me take the picture, but I guess that would be the case no matter where I stood ...

... anyway, no one he was with saw me take the picture. I unfortunately didn't have my killer lens with me, so the reason this shot looks so grainy is because I zoomed in on Photoshop! :o)

K.

hehe...just like Meepers, I looked at the picture and thought, 'Wow that friend of Karen's looks a lot like Stevie Wonder...naah...must just be the hair...'

First a real, working writer, now rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. Next I guess we will see your face on 'People', eh?
