The good news: the pod is finally empty! The bad news: the garage isn’t. 😳 Still, I’m feeling much better: the house is just about ready to receive houseguests, and tomorrow I go over to the apartment to clean it and turn in the keys. Sunday night we might even decorate for Christmas. And my office has twinkle lights and #makelight reminders, so it’s all good. Happy Friday, friends. Client meeting today, and for the first time in what seems like weeks, I really thought about getting dressed. I reflected on all my learnings from @stasiasavasuk’s style school, and pulled out power colours, played with accessories, and stood in front of my new full length mirror (I’ve never had one before in my adult life, can you imagine?), and got dressed. And after weeks of feeling overwhelmed, today I feel strong - even though my to-do list hasn’t gotten appreciably shorter. I’ve been thinking a lot about how colour and aesthetic can have a profound influence on mood and confidence and productivity - in home decor, in clothing, in everything. I’m not sure why I’ve not noticed it before, but colour’s effects are downright palpable. So today’s mood-boosting advice? Get dressed today. Like, put on your favourite colours, accessories, makeup - don’t worry whether they “go,” or if today’s a special enough day. Just do it. After my meeting today, I have to do more moving and unpacking. And I’m not changing clothes, either. ✨ #makelight #wearlight
Back at the hospital. This time, Marcus is having an angiogram - I’m told it’s more of an “abundance of caution” thing, but I admit, I’m still tense. It’s outpatient, though, so hopefully home in a few hours.
Moving is slow going - between weather and lingering coughs we haven’t moved as fast as I’d hoped. In fact, Marcus is over at the apartment now, hopefully picking up the last load of stuff, and the pod is still about 30% full. With luck, both the pod and the apartment will be empty by tonight, and I can clean out the apartment and turn in the keys early this week. That said, downstairs is pretty close to finished, as far as decorating goes. As you can see I wasn’t kidding about my decorating style being global-bazaar-colour-explosion-market-circus — it seems our new place is as nuts as our old one. So many countries are represented, from England, America, Trinidad & Tobago, Ethiopia, Morocco, China, Iran, Egypt, Australia, Mexico, Guatemala - and that’s just the first photo (swipe to see more)! 😄 But it also reflects our family — our individual national origins, yes; but also our love of travel and the gifts of friends and cultures from around the world. It’s bananas, but also a pretty accurate representation of who we are. We’ll take it. ✨❤️ #makelight #chookooloonksrebuild #ihaveathingforrugs
