I met @ashadornfest in the mid-to-late 00’s as women back then often did: through our mommyblogs. I liked her instantly, and we were so lucky that when our families met a couple of years later at blogging conference in Park City, Utah, our husbands became fast friends, and our daughters inseparable - so much so that a couple of years ago we spent Christmas and Hanukkah together, resulting in one of my favourite holiday weekends of my life. Even though we live thousands of miles apart — the Dornfests live in Oregon — we stay in touch, and our daughters text frequently. One day Asha’s daughter @mirabaidornfest, who is a gifted artist, shared a drawing she did of my daughter, based on an 8th grade prom picture I took. I loved it so much, I begged her to let me purchase a print of it, and it arrived this week. Mirabai, I. LOVE. IT. I can’t wait to have this beautiful piece framed and hung in our new home. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing gift with our family. ✨ #makelight
I just bought this houseplant at Lowe’s, and it had no tag or care instructions. Anyone know what this is, or how to take care of it? (Keep in mind that I am a plantcare whatever-the-word-is-that-means-less-than-novice) 🌿🍃🌱
#chookooloonksrebuild update: things are coming along. Earlier this week we got kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, and this morning I dropped by the house and they’ve begun exterior brickwork. Still a ton to do - floors, shelving, correction of an incorrect fireplace installation, not to mention lighting and other fixtures and perhaps even another coat of paint. Our general contractor is staying with his assertion that we’ll be in by Thanksgiving, so keep praying to the No-Severe-Storm and No-Construction-Delay gods for us! ✨#makelight
