In December 2009, I decided to begin a portrait study of very close family and friends, to see if I could recreate the feel of vintage photographs. I shot the images "through-the-viewfinder" with a Kodak Duaflex, and had my subjects pose without smiling (which wasn't always successful). The resulting images were processed to a sepia tone.
