« true »

(The story behind this pendant is at Shutter Sisters.)

In this world of soundbites, pundit spin, and shades of grey, I was wondering:

What do you know to be true?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Ooh, sorry, one more thing:  If you're an American?  Seriously, don't vote.

That I love my children.

That I love myself (even though I don't always show it.)

That you sometimes have to jump into that big scary situation to have a better life.

That I am blessed.

Love. Passion. Art that comes from Love and Passion. Family. Certain types of friendship.

Hmmmm. Let's see. I know these things to be true:

1) That chocolate cake and a glass of milk with ice in it are the solution to all problems, at least in the short term.
2) That there is nothing funnier than laughing with your sister about how you're both turning into your mother
3) That the people in high school who were bitchy to you suddenly want you to be their "friends" on facebook. Yeah. NO.

Truth to me:
The joy I see in my dogs when they run, free, untethered
The early-morning kiss and embrace I get every day when my husband leaves for work.
The smell of fresh, hot coffee
The abundance the universe has to offer each of us; we just have to remember to believe it.
The beauty of a babies smile

I believe it is true that it's more important to be kind than it is to be right, that manners matter, and that it costs less to release anger than to hold a grudge.

That you should not have to ask for permission to be yourself.

That when times are tough there is truth in the phrase "this too shall pass"

That I am the person I am because of the experiences I've had.

That my true friends are confident enough in our friendship that they can look me square in the eyes and tell me when I'm being an ass.

True: that there is meaning and purpose in life, and it is up to us to discover it.

Truth to me is in the joy I feel when I look into my husband's loving eyes.....
when i get off a plane and see my niece and nephew's eyes light up as they see me.....
listening to a babies laughter....
a morning note on the bathroom mirror......
being with friends that get "you"......
never letting the suckers get you down!!
