« bonus shot: white jade, yoga and journaling »

White jade necklace, gifted to me by my new friend, Beth.  Photographed with Nikon D300 and 35mm lens.

I recently met a wonderful woman, Beth, with whom I think I'm going to have the honour of working very closely with.  She's the author of the book Healthy Mother, Healthy Child, a nurse, a yoga instructor, and just one of those people you meet and instantly know you're going to be great friends.

On Friday, Beth led a three-hour workshop along with her friend Angela, a psychotherapist who uses journaling as part of her practice.  The workshop incorporated both yoga and journaling, and how using them both can manifest great things in your life.  At one point, Angela asked us to write about a time in our lives when we were absolutely joyful, and then she gave us tools to attach those emotions of joy to personal goals, and continue to write and expand them daily. And Beth led us through meditation and relaxation exercises to help manifest these goals.

It was, as you can imagine, amazingly powerful, and I feel refreshed and reenergized about my future.  This weekend is going to all about regrouping and reorganizing, and figure out how to fit some of the exercises that I learned in this workshop more readily into my day-to-day life.

I'll let you know how it goes.

(And incidentally, if you ever get the opportunity to hear either Beth or Angela speak, or be a part of one of their joint workshops, run, do not walk, to sign up.)

SongBetter way by Ben Harper.  Incidentally, this song is on this album, which I just bought, and is awesome.  Proceeds raised from the sale of the album go to support peace initiatives and Tibet cultural preservation projects important to the Dalai Lama.

Hi Karen,

I feel so fortunate to have "bummed into you" too! The feeling is mutual-- an instant connection is like finding a gem in a sea of ordinary!

Perhaps the reason the white jade called out your name to me. Jade is known as the dream stone, "bringing realization to ones potential and devotion to ones purpose."

"Dreams are part of our heart and soul. Our dreams go to the depths of our thoughts, wants and needs to fulfill our destiny. In order to fulfill our destiny we must fulfill our dreams."
- J.R. Davis

Here's to a magical project, a new friendship and the opportunity to support each other in pursuing our dreams...
