« random thoughts: about that book »

Over the past week, I've been photographing friends and combing through my archives for favourite portraits for my book.  At one point a couple of days ago, I had all of them pulled up on my computer screen.  I couldn't stop looking at them -- such wonderful faces.

The more I work on the book, the more excited I get about its premise.  But also, while I continue to be convinced the idea behind the book is so sound, sometimes I freak out about whether I can do it justice.

My deadline to turn in the final manuscript for the book is in five weeks.  Just typing those words made my hair stand on end -- there's still so much work to be done.  So I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to post a little less often over the next few weeks, so I can really buckle down and get this manuscript finished.

I really want to make this book worth your patience.

...you should consider having a guest-blogger or two to take the reigns for a day and free up some of your time. ;-)

Congratulations, Karen. I'm in envy of how you've written about the book while you've written IT. We did our book, www.fromheartachetohope.org in nine months and I actually wrote it in five weeks. I produced it, but I did not design or photograph it. I couldn't see the forest through the trees to write about it while I was doing it. Very smart of you, dear.
