love thursday: little gifts

The other day, for some reason or another, I remembered a post I once read written by my friend, Elspeth.  If I remember correctly, it was her birthday, and as a gift, a friend gave her a small cloth bag filled with little rocks and stones that he had collected over time.  She posted photographs of the rocks, and they were beautiful and smooth.  I remember thinking what a lovely, meaningful gift this was.

Then recently, out of the blue, a friend sent me a message with a link to a beautiful song attached, thanking me for being her friend.  I was so moved.  I remember thinking it was one of the nicest things anyone had done for me in recent memory.

I love the imagination that goes behind little gifts like this.  Tell me:  have you ever received a really sweet, meaningful gift that blew you away?  Have you ever given one?
