on butterflies, "giant misshapen penis" flowers and life lists

Today was not going to pass until we went to The Cockrell Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Because I was on a mission.

It was a great visit -- I managed to get tons of photographs of some really beautiful butterflies ...

... so that was pretty fabulous. But the main reason that I went to the museum was to accomplish the latest addition to my life list:

... but, apparently, my subject wasn't completely ready for me yet.

But I will succeed at this.

Oh yes.

Oh yes, I will.

Images:  Butterflies and Amorphophallus titanum photographed with my Nikon D300, and my 60mm micro lens and my 70-200mm lens, as appropriate.

Song:  Blame it on the boogie by The Jacksons.  Alex has been listening to this all day.
