picture day

The haziness you see in this image is techically called "the-i-took-the-camera-from-an-air-conditioned-house-out-into-a-steamy-Houston-morning-lens-fog" effect.  It's also known as the "i-can't-wait-for-autumn" effect.

Yesterday was picture day for the fourth grade at Alex's school.  Since Alex had taken extra special care getting dressed for her portraits, I grabbed my camera before we headed off to school and took a few shots of my own.

Incidentally, Alex is about to embark on a 9-day school trip.  This will be the longest she has ever spent away from both Marcus and me; and on those rare occasions when she has been away from us both for more than one night, she has at least been in the care of family members.  I tell you this just to let you know that while I'll continue blogging calmly here on Chookooloonks, inside I'll be a nervous wreck.

Alex, however, I'm convinced will be fine.

Have a great weekend, friends.  (And for those of you who are attending BlogElevated, please stop by and say hello!)

Song:  Girls just want to have fun by Cyndi Lauper.  It has apparently been an 80s week here on Chookooloonks.  I'll return to more modern music next week, I promise.
