this was a good week

This was a good week!  Here's why:

•  Alex turns 14 tomorrow!  And after a week of caring for a sleepless "baby," I suspect that sleeping until noon tomorrow is high on her birthday wish list this year.

•  These winter wonderland photographs are insanely beautiful.  (I always love photographs like these, but no way would I be willing to wait for hours in that weather for the perfect conditions like that photographer does!)

•  This baby chimp being rescued from poachers is the sweetest thing I've seen all year.

•  A pastor wanted to a host a breakfast for kids and their dads -- and it turned out that many of the kids didn't have dads or father figures who could show up. So he asked for volunteers.  Here's what happened.

•   Ludacris freestyling the classic children's book Llama Llama, Red Pajama made my day. 

•  Finally, for today's soundtrack:  my friend Heather shared this video of James Blake covering Don McClean's classic song Vincent.  It's a sad song, but this version is so haunting and beautiful I wanted to share it.  Click here or the image below to listen.
