this was a good week

This was a good week! Here’s why:

I received some good news on the work front, Alex is back in the swing of things at school, and life finally feels like it’s settling down a bit. Big sigh.

People. This snoring hummingbird is my new favourite thing on the entire internet.

I’d never heard of rainbow eucalyptus before — had you?

My friend Brené is doing the commencement address at the University of Texas this May, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for her. There’s something deeply honourable about being invited back to your alma mater to speak, don’t you think? So exciting.

• Now that I’ve started this daily sketch practice (at which I’m astonishingly bad), I’m even more astounded at the hyperrealism of this sketch of a glass — it still doesn’t make sense to me, even after watching the time lapse process!

• Every year on his birthday, my friend Justin takes a number of self-portraits equal to the number of years of his age. This year, he’s 52. I always love these glimpses into his life. (Happy birthday, Justin!)

• And finally, today’s soundtrack: Artifice by Sohn. I heard this song at a restaurant a couple of weeks ago, and Shazam’d it to find out what it was. I love it, and I love the video and how it’s shot even more — it reveals an unexpected (somewhat unsettling) story in slow motion.

Have a great weekend, friends.
