turks & caicos

First dip in the ocean!

As I write this, I’m lying in bed with COVID — despite all precautions, it appears that all of the graduation celebrations caught up to us (many of Alex’s classmates tested positive for COVID after the festivities died down). The good news is that Marcus remains negative, and although Alex and I are positive, we are primarily asymptomatic (I’m just in bed because I respect the COVID, and am treating it with tons of water and rest). We’re just waiting on negative tests so we can get back to our lives.

The even better news is that before we tested positive, we were able to have our first epic family vacation in years, to Turks & Caicos, a country none of us had ever visited. (For the record, we tested before we left the US, we tested while we were there, and then tested again to get back to the US — all negative. We didn’t test positive until 2 days after we’d returned.) We stayed at Pine Cay, literally a tiny island with only one 10-room hotel, so our interaction with other humans was a minimal as you could possibly get. It was a lovely escape.

So, while I lie here in my bed staring at the four walls of my bedroom, I thought I’d share some of my favourite photos of our time in Turks & Caicos. What a beautiful, beautiful place.

Headed to the hotel.

View from the bed in our room.

I-ain-ga-lie: best. beer name. ever.

Mojito!

One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever visited — and I’ve visited a lot of beaches.

We spent every sunset at the tiki bar.

Every, single, sunset.

We took a golf cart to explore the island, and charming little coves like this were everywhere.

Headed out to snorkel.

Fully unwound.

The water clarity was unreal.

Another tiki bar cocktail.

Journaling by the Caribbean Sea: my happy place.

Just a lovely, lovely holiday.

Hope your summer has started beautifully, too.
