friday chookooloonks life list update: number 64, grow a flower from a seed -- CHECK.

As soon as we came home from Santa Fe on Sunday, the first thing I did was go in our back garden to check on the flowers I've been growing for my life list.  We'd given them a good dousing before we left since the weather is starting to turn into one of those unspeakably hot summers Houston is famous for, so I wanted to make sure the plants hadn't spontaneously combusted.

They hadn't.  In fact, as I turned the corner, I let out a small squeal.  Zinnias!

So that's number 64 scratched off my list!  Sadly, however, I have to admit that the foxgloves aren't doing nearly as well.  I'm going to keep persevering with them, but to be honest, I'm not holding out much hope.  In fact, as if wilting wasn't enough, yesterday, as I was watering them, I noticed a toad had dug a little hole and was nestled in and made a home in a place where a foxglove plant once struggled.

It's like they've given up the will to live.

But zinnias, man.  Zinnias!

(see the entire journey of their growth here!)
