a rebellious little list of good things

Wheeeeeeew. I am officially done with work for the year! Alex returns home tonight, a Christmas jigsaw puzzle arrived today (don’t judge me), and Christmas shopping is almost done. It’s the holidays, baby!

Also? Here are some lovely things to end the week.

• The Artemis I mission has returned from space, and my friend Mark sent me this link of images of the Earth and Moon the rocket brought back as souvenirs. Man, nothing like space images to remind us of how we’re all interconnected on this little rock floating in outer space, am I right?

Rishi Rajpopat, a 27-year-old grad student, solved a 2,500 year old Sanskrit problem. "I closed the books for a month and just enjoyed the summer - swimming, cycling, cooking, praying and meditating," he said.  "Then, begrudgingly I went back to work, and, within minutes, as I turned the pages, these patterns starting emerging, and it all started to make sense."  If that's not a testament to the power of rest, I'm not sure what is.

I love me some joyful dance.

• “More energy out than in” — a breakthrough in fusion happened this month. “Fusion holds the tantalizing promise of plentiful, carbon-free energy, without many of the radioactive headaches of fission-driven nuclear power.” Y’all — this is big.

My friend Jenny is doing her Almost 14th Annual James Garfield Miracle again this year, and it’s just such a lovely way to be generous for the holiday season. Go over and take a look. (But be prepared for some salty language. That’s how Jen rolls. Somehow it makes her lightmaking that much more delightful.)
