My father has a term for little signs that keep showing up in your life that seem to indicate you should pay attention to some cosmic message. He calls them "spirit taps" -- as in, the "Spirit" is "tapping you upside the head so that you'll pay attention."
Trinidadian fathers are nothing if not colourful.
Recently, I've had a couple of spirit taps telling me it's time to get my ass in gear. And because they've both come in the form of two really inspiring videos, I thought I'd share them here, in case you were in the need of your own spirit taps.
The first: the young son of migrant workers grows up to become an astronaut, against all odds.
And secondly, this artist's story. I particularly loved her philosophy about breaking into the art world toward the end -- it can be applied to every aspect of life, I think.
