scenes from the weekend: christmas lights (and some christmas hope)

Having lived many places in my life, I have to say I've never seen any city do Christmas lights with the type of ferocity that Houstonians do Christmas lights -- and in Houston, the neighbourhood to really see them on display is River Oaks, the exclusive, old-money, insanely wealthy area of town.  Saturday night, Marcus, Alex and I decided to go for a drive to check them out.

And as always, they didn't disappoint.

The lit trees on the right are in one single-family-home's front yard.

Song:  The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth as performed by Bing Crosby and David Bowie.  No song around this time of year fills me with more hope than this duet performed by these two talented men, and I figure we could all use a bit of hope right now.
