this was a good week

This was a good week! Here’s why:

The weather has been beautiful, which is good, because Alex has been away counseling at a sleepaway camp all week. (She texted “it’s hard work, but worth it,” so I’m counting that as a win.) Marcus and I had a bunch of date nights this week as a result, but we’re also excited to get her back home tomorrow. All great.

This suburbia for the chronically homeless is brilliant.

This guy’s art, made with — wait for it — dry erase markers is insane.

This art installation is just beautiful.

And this artist’s crocheted leaves and twigs are mesmerizing.

This cookbook written by toddlers made me laugh and laugh.

• And finally, for the soundtrack, this amazing performance of “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” performed by Billy Porter during a commercial break at the Tonys. We don’t deserve Billy Porter, man. He is made of pure sunshine.

James Corden is back in the studio, fresh off hosting the 2019 Tony Awards the night before, and felt compelled to share a special moment during a commercial break when he asked Billy Porter to sing some karaoke -- and Billy absolutely crushes "Everything's Coming Up Roses" from the Broadway classic Gypsy.

On that joyous note, have a great weekend, friends. See you next week.
