this was a good week (64/100)

Who am I kidding: this was a crappy week. So here’s what I got (American friends, I’m talkin’ to you):

• If you’re planning on protesting, watch this video. Twice, if you have to. It’s important you know your rights.

• If you’re an American citizen, over 18 and eligible to vote, I’m going to need you to vote. See, the thing is that even though when we talk about this upcoming election we talk about the President, the truth is that elections include many other people on the ballot, like state district attorneys and state judges and city officials and all kinds of people who can affect your day-to-day life. Also? The President appoints many, many, many federal judges (Trump himself has appointed almost a quarter of the federal judiciary), who are empowered to hear all kinds of cases, including criminal, and who remain judges for the rest of their lives — effectively, they can’t lose their jobs, except in very extreme circumstances. So what I’m saying is, you really, really, really need to vote, because your vote matters for more than you think. You can double-check to see if you’re registered to vote here, and if you’re not, you’ll be taken to where you need to go to register. It takes mere minutes. So make sure you’re registered, and then plan on voting.

• After you’re all registered, check out VotePlus1, created by my dear friend Asha Dornfest, and designed to help you do just one more thing in addition to voting. Asha is one of my best friends, and watching this video series, you’ll understand why: her entire approach is to invite you to do something wonderful, inspired by interconnectedness and even love for each other. Scroll down and check out her videos, and feel inspired by the power that you — yes, you! — have to make a difference in this upcoming election.

• And finally, for this week’s soundtrack: my fury and light Spotify playlist. It will help you get fired up.

Have an inspired weekend, friends.
