How do you talk to your kids about molestation? -- I had a long talk with Alex this morning, because of this video.

Are you a bargain shopper? -- I'm not. But I hate shopping, so it's rare that I shop anyway.

Are you okay with pulling your kids out of school? -- For us, it's a case-by-case kinda thing.

« the danger of a single story »

If Javascript is disabled browser, to place orders please visit the page where I sell my photos, powered by Fotomoto.

I had a post all ready to publish today, and then my dad forwarded me the link to the following video from the TED conference.  I find it so amazingly powerful, I decided to postpone my post and share this instead.

When you have a spare 20 minutes, grab a cup of tea, and then please come back to watch the following.  And then share it with your friends.  Because I think everyone could do with watching this.

Enjoy.

Song: Interested by india.arie.  Today's song brought to you by Glenyse.

This is such a truly moving message. It is so extremely frustrating when encountering people who rely on single stories. Perhaps people can be dismissed for being innocently ignorant - however, it is the lack of interest in finding out the many stories of those around you, and around the world - the many stories that make each person who they are - that is inexcusable. Karen, thank you so much for sharing this.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It is very powerful. I've shared it with some friends, and I hope they share it in turn with their friends, and on down the line. It's an important message.

Wow. That was incredibly beautiful and powerful and moving. She mesmerized me. And her message is one that needs to be told over and over again. Thank you for sharing this. It will keep me thinking contemplatively all day long.

What a great story. I love TED. Thanks for picking my song suggestion too, that made my day!

(And one day I know you are gonna take my picture...I just wanted to throw that out into the universe)

Have a great weekend Karen.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that it brought tears to my eyes, too. And I'm not sure why. (I am excited to discover a new-to-me novelist!) Thanks for posting this. It was completely worth 20 minutes of my attention.
