« view 19 - love thursday: date night »

The other night, in an uncharacteristically spontaneous way, Marcus suggested that we get a babysitter so that the two of us could check out an area of town with new bars and restaurants and lounges.  Since it had been an embarrassingly long time since we had a date night, I booked the sitter before he even had the words out of his mouth.

We had a great time.

I wish I could remember the name of this cocktail so that I could tell you to avoid it at all costs.  Seriously horrible.  Like chilled minty mouthwash.

But it was expensive, so I drank it all.  Because I'm thrifty.

Dinner was great -- a place called Straits

A lovely night.  And a great reminder that we need to do date night more often.

Happy Love Thursday, everyone.  Please leave your stories or your links to words or images of love in the comments below.

And on this, Christmas Eve, during the bustle of the season, just a little reminder  to spend some quality time with the people you love the most.  It's important.

December views.

Merry Christmas Eve! And Happy Love Thursday! There are so many things I love about today - and all of them have to do with the people I love.

Karen, lovely, per usual. When I saw the martini, I thought: she took her camera with her? And then: of course she did. My serious photographer friends never go anywhere without theirs. I love how you captured the urban landscape, the sexy hustle bustle of the restaurant, the refreshment of the drink. (At least the latter looked good.)

One of my gifts to myself was a generous Amazon order. And every book but one was someone to whom you led me, some lovebomb friend or some friend of theirs. I can't keep all ya'll straight. Seriously, I ordered 8 books and all of them where by people who are either bloggers or have a web presence. Most are the former. So, yeah, this blogosphere thing works! And today, I am taking off from my to-do's, except get to the bank and grocery, and thinking of the somewhat uncomfortable inspiration of your friend Brene Brown via Twitter and her blog, Ordinary Courage. (Got her book, too.)

Thank you for gifting me everyday with your talent for visual and written serenity. Here's to a magnificent 2010!

Namaste,

Oooo...date night. Yum. And the food and drink...yum (except, of course for the yucky martini--how could any blue drink be good? I mean really). I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. May you feel the love coming your way from all of us, your loyal readers. And Happy Love Thursday to all!
