« love thursday: simple can be wonderful »
My kitchen window. Photographed with Nikon D300, 35mm lens.
This past weekend, a friend who was in from out of town stopped by our home, and brought us a bouquet of roses.
Today, they're fully open, and every time I pass them, I smell their beautiful scent, and I think of her.
Moral: Never, ever underestimate the power of a simple gift of flowers.

Love how the light filters thru the bits of blue glass in this image.

I think that statement should be amended to "Never, ever underestimate the power of a simple gift." Recently my Mom (who lives very far away from me) gave me a simple photo frame. In it was a photo of she and I smiling and hugging and it was taken when I was around 10 years old. She wrote a note in the frame which said, "Some things never change." The frame didn't cost much, the picture was old, but the sentiment was one of the most powerful I've heard in a long, long while.
In an environment where everything is all about bigger, better, "change is good" and the mentality is that we must progress to succeed, it's comforting to know that she's right. Some things never change. And that's EXACTLY how I like it.

the blue heart is beautiful! a blogging friend sent me a glass heart that she made herself and it arrived right after the huge ice storm we had here in new england last winter. it really cheered me (and matched all the ice!)

but what i'd intended to share this week is a heart-sighting from central park!

So sweet. So simple. So true.
I wrote about the simplest and truest love of all: the love between a girl (no matter how old) and her mommy.

Happy Love Thursday.
Happy Love Thursday, everyone!
My post is a trip back in time to celebrate the lives and love of my great-grandparents.
Wouldn't it be so much cooler if gas pumps still looked like the one in my picture?

Beautiful picture, but better story. There's nothing like the feeling of gifting for no reason other then you felt like that someone need it. And there's nothing like the feeling of being on the receiving end. Know that that person was thinking of you. Warm fuzzy feelings.
The heart in your picture is so beautiful. Really, really lovely. Receiving a gift of flowers is so special too.
