« love thursday: beauty, redux »

Photographed with Nikon D300, 60mm macro lens, and Kodak Duaflex.

Wow.

Thanks to all of you who shared the descriptions of the most beautiful people you've come across in yesterday's comments.  You confirmed what I've always suspected:  the people we find most beautiful are rarely (although, sometimes) categorized in the physical descriptions of beauty that society dictates; more often than not, their beauty is defined by something more ... or sometimes, their beauty is indefinable.

It kind of makes you think, though, doesn't it?  Perhaps when we think in terms of our own beauty, we should broaden that definition to the one we use for other people.  Perhaps instead of focusing on whether or not we have the perfect nose, or perfect waistline, or perfect pectorals, or even perfect feet, perhaps it makes more sense to spend the time to discover that the source of our beauty is something else.

Maybe even something indefinable.

Happy Love Thursday, everyone.  Please leave your stories or your links to images or words of love in the comments, below.

And my love-filled wish for you is that, at some point today, you realize how beautiful you are.

This young girl and her two brothers show up everyday at the dog park to provide necessary exercise to their grandfather's seeing-eye-dog. A very special love-story...indeed:

Happy Love Thursday, everyone! It's my birthday today - on Love Thursday, can you believe it? - and so today I wrote about all the love I have for those around me...and also for that nummy cake that's waiting for me at home. :-) And that's the connection, isn't it? Our beauty comes from happiness...the glow within. And, at least for today, I am perfectly happy!

I find it easier to think of myself as beautiful if I think of myself as a creation; not a self creation but just like an abstraction admidst all the other creations.... if I can detach myself from myself I see the beauty as a gift from the universe; and know that "what is essential is invisible to the eye" (The Little Prince)....

That's what makes this life so beautiful - knowing that so many different ways of seeing beauty exists and the hope to be able to experience them. I went for a bit of nostalgia today for my post:
