rumbling in san antonio

I've just ended my second of 6 days of training in Brené Brown's methodologies, and it's certainly a lot -- and rumour has it that tomorrow is actually going to be the most intense of all the days of training.  It's incredibly interesting, and the participants are so wonderfully kind, but I have to admit that I'm a little nervous: it's a lot of content, and I want to make sure that, as Brené describes it, that I get it in my bones.

So I'm just popping in to say hi, and I wanted to share the following quote with you that was shared with the participants today.  I loved it, it made me think, and I thought you would love it, too.

In many shamanic societies, if you came to a shaman or medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions.

When did you stop dancing?
When did you stop singing?
When did you stop being enchanted by stories?
When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?

Where we have stopped dancing, singing, being enchanted by stories, or finding comfort in silence is where we have experience the loss of soul. Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves.
