« headed east »

Today's a busy day: lots of final packing to do* before we take off for England this evening.  Every time we do one of these trips, it astonishes me how much we pack.  I'm sure we didn't pack this much before Alex was born.  How can she require so much luggage?  She's not even 4 feet tall yet!

My goal is to continue frequent posting while we're away, so you can see what we're up to while in Ol' Blighty -- but it might be a day or two before I get the first one up. I always get pretty vicious jetlag traveling west to east, rendering me pretty useless for about 72 hours.  But stay tuned.  I might be able to churn out something lucid.  Or at least amusingly incoherent.

Have a great weekend, all.  See you from England.

* Incidentally, the post I wrote about what to pack for a trip overseas can be found here.  Thanks for your help -- quite a few of your suggestions featured!

Update:  One more thing -- I finally have a rate sheet up here.  If you're in the Houston area and interested in any holiday portraits (or digital greeting cards), please e-mail me.  I'll respond while on holiday, and we can set something up to happen as soon as I return.

Have a great time!
I read your travel post and I think it's great. I have never been out of the country and yet I can only imagine the packing involved! My husband puts the same pressure on me for weekend trips and we pack so much that you'd think we were going to Europe!

Have a great time! Great packing post. I'm a horrible packer. I make lists for weeks and then procrastinate until the night before leaving. I stay up way too late to finish the job! My husband, who travels way more than I do, packs in 10 minutes and is always amazed by what I need to bring with me.

Hope you have a safe and wonderful trip! Good luck with the packing and I'll keep you and yours in my prayers!

thanks for this, karen. it's very timely for me as we are leaving next week for a 3-week trip to india for my sister-in-law's wedding. it's my first trip to my husband's home, and the first time i've been out of the country in 15 years! i had a packing list started on jott and feel much better about it after adding some of your suggestions and even some from the comments section on your gadling post.

have a wonderful time in england! :)
