"Hey, Al, guess what: S is coming over with her dad, so I can take photographs of them for their holiday cards."
"She's coming over today?"
"Yes!"
"Awesome!"
...
"You know what, Mom?"
"What's that?"
"Sometimes S and I pretend we're sisters."
"Well, you know what, Al?"
"What?"
"There's something called 'soul sisters,' or 'soul brothers.' It's when you meet someone, and you feel so connected and close to that person, she feels like your sister, or he feels like your brother. That's your soul sister, or your soul brother. It's a very special thing."
"Mom?"
"Yeah?"
"S and I are soul sisters."
"That's very cool, Al."

am I really the first?! these two girls look like they're going to grow up to be two feircely independent, creative, loving soul sisters. Kudos to great moms too :)
what a beautiful photo of two beautiful girls!
Thanks, guys! And Quilin, Dads feature heavily in the raising of these two. :)
K.
Love this. I have some dear soul-sisters myself.
Sorry Dads! Big shout-out to great dads who raise cool little girls :)
Beautiful. And there are some people who have the gift of connecting with others. Many others. So I bet you have a number of soul sisters.
That is just adorable. I love your response to Alex's statement!
I call these women in my life "sister-friends". I have two amazing sisters and a best-friend brother, so I have been blessed. Still, my sister-friends are the people who chose me, women I chose, and those bonds form the net that has saved me more than a few times.
My daughter also has sister-friends, and those hugging-you-closer-than-my-next-breath photos are the perfect way to show what that means. Lovely!
I don't have sisters of my very own, but I do have a few soul sisters. They are the best!
Love this.
