« view 11: a midsummer night's dream »

Because Alex has shown an affinity for the dramatic (ahem), when we found out her school offered a drama club, we didn't hesitate in signing her up.  After working very hard all semester long, last night was the drama club's performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.  (Yes, I realize that it's closer to midwinter than midsummer, but work with me here, people.)

Alex was a fairy.  Her one line was, "It's PERFECT!!" which she delivered with gusto.  (Natch.)

Lest you think that the play was delivered in the original iambic pentameter, let me assure you that instead, there were references to cell phones not having enough "bars" in the forest, and I think even a "dude" was thrown around a couple of times.  I'm not sure if Billy Shakespeare would've been proud or horrified.

Alex was well pleased, however.

December views.

Hey, Billy was a dude that wrote for the people. I think he'd be down with it. Alex looks lovely and stole the show with her line, I'm sure!

I always say that Shakespear was the Steven Spielberg of Elizabethan times. She is too cute.

Alex is beautiful as ever. Love her dress and "make-up". I'm sure William would be proud to see such young ones getting into his stuff and making it their own...

Beautiful pictures. Please congratulate Alex on a job perfectly done. As an English teacher. I appreciate young people learning about Shakespeare. And I love that you called him "Billy". I may use that!

I think good ol' Billy Shakes would be ok with it. He used the common language of the day in his work, and I think he'd be delighted to see people of our generation turning his play into something that works in our time.

She looks lovely, and so happy. :)
