"I don't know what it is, but for some reason this year, I am filled with the Christmas spirit."

"Dude, so am I."

"I'm not sure what it is ..."

"It's not just you, man, it's in the air.  Like my best friend?  Normally, he hates Christmas. Hates it.  But last week, when it snowed?  Brutha went out and bought himself a tree."

I'm sure I've not seen all your work but the last image of the loan coffee mug is by far my favorite. Did you take that with your lensbaby to get the unfocused edges?

You have such a special blog! It really made my day this morning.

Stephanie --

Nope -- all of these images were taken with my 50mm 1.4 manual lens. The "1.4" part is capable of lovely depths of field, which is why the edges are blurry.

Thanks so much for your kind words!

This Christmas is my 2nd since i've been back home iN T&T and normally i'm esctatic to eat some pastelles and drink some ponche de creme. But this year and with these images, there's a small hole in my heart when I think at this time at my old job at Starbucks and what a magical time of year this was for us. Believe it or not, I actually miss the cold...and the Christmas shopping.

I always struggle with the Christmas spirit thing. Your images have stirred up a bit of that spirit these past few days.

Also, I would like a pumpkin chai.

Now that is an inspiring kind of coffee shop - i lvoe the exposed brick and oaky chairs. Is this the same one with the outdoor patio and twinkle lights you've shown previously? In Seattle, there are great one-off coffee shops, but not really out where I live - the chains dominate - and there is something really special about personal character, private ownership, and hand-drawn signs.

Also, a candied orange white mocha? I think I'd like to try that this morning, when the thermometer registered 20 degrees F as my teenager left for school.

Love that chalkboard with all those flavor offerings! Mmmmm!

these are fantastically inspiring.
one of my goals this year is to learn to use my camera

Ooh, I want a candied orange white mocha!

Also, I just wrote a blog post today about suddenly having some Christmas spirit this year after years without it.

me, too. I wanted to skip Thanksgiving and just go straight to Christmas. Instead...we had three Thanksgivings. I am loving these shots while I sit here drinking my coffee in my living room.
