and we still have to buy appliances
Tomorrow, we meet with our builder to go over the “punch list” — the final items which need to be done for our house to be ready to move in. (At this point, we don’t have a lawn, banisters for the stairs, painted cabinets, a completed bookshelf, trim around one of the doors, the motor for the garage door opener, shutters, a front door handle, a working oven, finished tile in one of our bathrooms, a missing countertop, the correct mantelpiece — and that’s just off the top of my head — so once we actually go through the house, this punch list ain’t gonna be short.) After our meeting tomorrow, we are told we’ll have a good idea of when our move-in date will be.
On November 30th, we are required to have moved out of this apartment.
So let’s all take a moment and pray that the Gods of Construction and the Gods of Vacating Premises are in harmony, shall we?
In the meantime, I’ll start packing up.

And this is how the story ends.
It has been different for each of us.
We have keys!
Not long now.
Your prayers to the Construction and Vacating Premises gods appear to be working. Keep going.
I ain’t gonna lie — I’m a bit tense.
Almost time to start moving again.
It’s kind of like a growing puppy.
They say the only way out is through. I think another way out is up.
